PLAN YOUR TRIP BEFORE YOU VISIT
The site allows you to virtually "walk down the street" in a particular town. It's a natural and efficient way to learn about an area and see what's there. "Walking down the street" helps the user to build up a "mental map" of how the town is laid out. When you later visit the area, you are much less likely to get lost.

PRINT OUT MAPS & DIRECTORIES TO TAKE WITH YOU
As you plan your trip, decide which towns you will likely visit. For these towns, print out the PDF file for the town that has maps and a directory for the town. There is a button for this on the main page of each town ("Maps & Directory for Printing").

ACCESS THIS SITE WITH A TOUCH-SCREEN PHONE WHILE ON YOUR TRIP
You can access this site with the web browser with a touch-screen phone such as an iPhone while visiting (you'll see it in a different format, optimized for the phone.)

Not every touch-screen phone will work: it needs certain capabilities, which the phones with larger, high-resolution screens typically have. See our list of touch-screen phones that work with our maps.
Phones on our list can use the same web address as for a PC, e.g., jamestownca.org.

We also have a list of touch-screen phones that DO NOT work with our maps.

ACCESS THIS SITE WITH AN ORDINARY PHONE
You can also access the same information (but without the maps) via the browser in an ordinary phone. This uses a menu-based user interface, and presents text and photos.

Most recent phones will work using the regular web address, e.g., jamestownca.org. If your phone isn't recognized use jamestownca.org/m.
